Master Chief Murphy grew up in San Diego CA and enlisted into US Naval service January 1994. He attended recruit basic training at Orlando, FL with follow on Intelligence Specialist training at Dam Neck, VA.
His sea duty assignments include USS Constellation (CV 64), USS McCampbell (DDG 85), USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), USS George Washington (CVN 73) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). This is Master Chief’s second tour with Commander Carrier Strike Group Fifteen (CCSG 15) when he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader from Sep 2017 to Jul 2020.
His ashore assignments include the Naval Criminal Investigative Service Headquarters Washington DC, Afloat Training Group Pacific San Diego, U.S. Pacific Fleet Intelligence Readiness Cell and Commander U.S. Third Fleet.
Master Chief Murphy’s military education includes the Maritime Staff Operators Course, Advanced Operational Intelligence Analysis Course, Ship’s Intelligence Officer Course and Basic Instructor Training,. He is a certified Master Training Specialist and Afloat Training Specialist. His formal education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, specializing in Organizational Leadership.
His awards include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6), along with various service and campaign awards.
